How long is a reissued Vietnam work permit valid?

According to Decree 219/2025/ND-CP, a reissued work permit is valid for the remaining time of your original permit. The formula is:

Validity period = Original expiration date – Time already worked

Example: If your first work permit was valid from January 2023 to January 2025, and you get a new one in January 2024, the new permit will be valid until January 2025 (just 1 year left).
