What documents do you need for your work permit application?

- Health check certificate from a Vietnamese hospital or clinic (must be recent – within 12 months)
- Passport copy (must be valid for at least 6 more months)
- Criminal background check from your home country (must be recent – within 6 months). Sometimes this is not needed if we process online
- Two color photos, size 4cm x 6cm, white background, no glasses
- Work contract or employment letter from your company
- Proof you qualify for your job position (see below for details)

- University degree or higher (notarized copy with consular legalization)
- Document confirming at least 2 years of work experience in your field (or 1 year if you work in priority sectors: finance, science, technology, innovation, or digital transformation – confirmed by relevant ministry or provincial authority)
- Your company’s charter or operational regulations
- Official appointment or assignment document for your management position (following Enterprise Law 2020)
- Your company’s business registration certificate or equivalent documents
- Certificate showing your company’s branch, representative office, or business location registration
- Company charter or organizational structure document
- Confirmation letter from your foreign employer proving at least 3 years of relevant management experience (must be authenticated or verified electronic document)
Helpful tip: If you worked in Vietnam before with a work permit or work permit exemption certificate, you can use that as proof of experience.
You can qualify in two ways:
Option 1 – Training plus experience:
- Vocational training certificate showing at least 1 year of training in your field (notarized copy from legitimate training organizations)
- Document proving at least 2 years of work experience in that field
Option 2 – Experience only:
- Document proving at least 3 years of practical work experience in your field
- Training certificate not required (but you can provide one if authorities ask)
