Where to pay Vietnam work permit fees for foreigners?

The work permit process for foreigners is now completely online. You can choose one of these two ways to send documents and pay fees:

  • Option 1. Send documents through the National Public Service Portal
  • Option 2. Send documents through your province’s Employment Service Center website

Right now, you can send all documents online through the National Public Service Portal. Look for procedure code: 194248 or 9151 (search for “work permit for foreigners”)

You’ll need to create an account, upload your documents including Form 03 from Decree 219/2025/ND-CP, sign digitally, and send everything online.

After your documents are checked, you pay the fee through the online payment system and get an electronic receipt.

Besides the National Public Service Portal, you can also send documents through your province’s Employment Service Center website (decided by the provincial People’s Committee chairman). For example:

You can visit your province/city’s website, create an account, and send documents following each area’s instructions.

After you post your job announcement, you should save the confirmation record (with the notification document) to attach to Form 03 if needed.

>> Note: Addresses and phone numbers can change over time. You should check updated information on each province/city’s official website before sending your documents.

According to Article 22 of Decree 219/2025/ND-CP, processing takes 10 working days from when they receive complete documents and payment. If they say no, they will tell you why within 3 working days.

>> Important: The processing time starts when the Department of Internal Affairs receives your documents, not when you upload them to the portal.

Additional charges beyond standard Vietnam work permit costs

Besides government fees, you need to prepare money for many extra costs. Knowing these costs will help you plan better when getting work permits for your foreign workers.

  • Criminal record check costs
  • Health check costs
  • Travel costs
  • Other costs

A criminal record check is one of the documents you must have when getting a work permit. It shows the foreign worker is not serving a sentence or has no criminal record.

Option 1. Get criminal record check from home country

  • Cost depends on rules in each country
  • Cost for legalization and translation in Vietnam: VND 200,000 – VND 500,000 (depends on number of pages and language)

Option 2. Get criminal record check in Vietnam

  • Location: Provincial/city police where the foreign worker has temporary residence registration
  • Cost: VND 200,000 per person
  • Time: 30 working days (about 21 working days by rules, but usually takes longer)

>> Different job positions have specific requirements. Learn about specialized work permits for work permit for directors, work permit for managers, or Vietnam work permit for technical workers.

A health check is required when foreign workers get work permits in Vietnam. It shows they are healthy enough to work according to Ministry of Health rules.

Health check costs

  • About VND 1,500,000 – VND 3,000,000 per person per hospital
  • Valid for: 12 months from the date it’s issued

The health check includes:

  • General physical examination
  • Blood and urine tests
  • Chest X-ray
  • HIV/AIDS and other infectious disease tests
  • Neurological and mental health checks (if needed)

>> Note: According to Decree 219/2025/ND-CP, health certificates from foreign medical facilities can be used if Vietnam and that country have a mutual recognition agreement, valid for up to 12 months. However, right now there is no official document confirming that health certificates from foreign hospitals are widely accepted in Vietnam. So it’s better for your workers to come to Vietnam first and then get their health check done here.

  • Travel costs to send documents and pick up results (depends on distance and how you travel)
  • Cost to send documents for translation
  • Cost to pick up results in person (if needed) or send by mail
  • Visa extension costs (if needed): If your foreign worker’s visa is about to expire while waiting for the work permit, you need to extend their visa so they can stay in Vietnam legally (depends on visa type and extension time)

>> Note: You should check how much time is left on the visa before you send your work permit application. This helps you avoid unnecessary visa extension costs.

  • Translation and notarization costs (depends on documents, materials, and country)
